Surrey at the heart of England’s Six Nations rugby campaign

2nd February 2012 11:33:11

When the England rugby team steps on to the pitch this weekend for the Six Nations, it will be Harlequins’ Chris Robshaw who leads them as captain.

The 25-year-old, Redhill-born flanker came through the Harlequins Academy (after learning the ropes at Warlingham RFC) and has since made 145 appearances for the club, which trains at Surrey Sports Park in Guildford and plays at the Stoop in Twickenham.

Chris was appointed as club captain in September 2009 and this season has captained the side to the top of the Aviva Premiership.

After the ups and downs of the Rugby World Cup, and the many changes since, all eyes will be on England in this season’s competition and the team plays at Twickenham on Saturday February 25 against Wales and Saturday March 17 against Ireland.

The England team continue their long association with Pennyhill Park hotel in Bagshot, where the players are based and train between fixtures (they are another team to use Surrey Sports Park, too).

Here’s hoping their Surrey stay helps the team keep their minds on the job in hand this time round…
